Eyes convey warmth
To smize is to smile with your eyes—conveying warmth or expressiveness through the eyes alone while the mouth remains neutral or only slightly engaged.
The term was coined by model Tyra Banks for the technique of projecting emotion through the eyes in photographs: She taught the contestants how to smize for the camera.
It has spread beyond modeling to describe any knowing, eyes-only expression.
