sleeper holds
Consciousness-ending grips
Sleeper holds are wrestling or martial arts techniques that compress the neck to restrict blood flow or breathing, causing unconsciousness if held long enough.
The term comes from the effect—putting someone "to sleep." Common in professional wrestling as a dramatic submission move, sleeper holds appear in self-defense and combat sports: He locked in a sleeper hold and the referee stopped the match.
