side vents
Coat back openings
Side vents are vertical slits in the back of a jacket or coat, positioned at each side seam rather than at the center.
They allow easier movement and prevent the fabric from bunching when sitting or reaching into trouser pockets.
Most suit jackets have either a single center vent, double side vents, or no vents at all—side vents being associated with British tailoring and a slightly more formal appearance.
