side-swipes
Brushes past forcefully
Side-swipes are glancing blows delivered while passing, either literal or figurative.
A car side-swipes another when it scrapes along its flank: The truck side-swiped three parked cars.
More often the term describes indirect criticism or insults—remarks that hit obliquely rather than head-on: The speech was full of side-swipes at her opponents.
