shutting away
Putting into seclusion
To shut away is to confine or isolate—placing someone or something apart from others.
A person might be shut away in a remote institution or shut themselves away to work in solitude: She shut herself away for weeks to finish the manuscript.
Objects get shut away in closets, safes, or storage: The documents were shut away in a vault.
