showcase event
Headline performance occasion
A showcase event is an occasion designed to display or highlight something—talent, products, achievements, or capabilities—to an interested audience.
Schools hold showcase events for prospective students, companies for potential clients, athletes for scouts: The combine is the NFL's premier showcase event for draft prospects.
The emphasis is on presentation and visibility rather than competition.
