shelter workers
Housing assistance employees
Shelter workers are employees or volunteers who staff shelters—facilities providing temporary housing and basic services to people or animals in need.
The term most often refers to those working in homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, or animal shelters: Shelter workers helped reunite lost pets with their owners after the hurricane.
The work typically involves intake, care, and connecting residents with resources.
