Shagginess is the quality of being shaggy—rough, unkempt, or covered with long tangled growth.
Hair, fur, carpets, and beards can all have shagginess.
The word extends to anything with a rough, unpolished character: the shagginess of his prose, a certain shagginess to the band's early recordings.
