self-validation
Approving of yourself
Self-validation is confirming your own worth, feelings, or choices without requiring external approval.
It's the internal process of recognizing that your emotions and experiences are legitimate: I'm learning self-validation instead of constantly seeking reassurance from others.
The term appears frequently in therapy and self-help contexts, where it's positioned as healthier than depending on others for a sense of adequacy.
