secure networks
Encrypted communication channels
Secure networks are computer networks protected against unauthorized access, data theft, and cyberattacks.
The term covers both the technical infrastructure—firewalls, encryption, authentication protocols—and the practices that maintain protection: Make sure you're on a secure network before entering your password.
A network may be physically secure (restricted access to hardware) or digitally secure (encrypted traffic, monitored connections).
The plural often refers to networks as a category or field of expertise: She specializes in secure networks for financial institutions.
