second-generation immigrants
Children of immigrants
Second-generation immigrants are people born in a country to parents who immigrated there.
The term distinguishes them from their foreign-born parents (first generation) and from their own children (third generation).
Though technically native-born citizens, they often navigate between their parents' culture and the surrounding society: Second-generation immigrants frequently serve as translators for their families.
