schoolyard humor
Playground comedic style
Schoolyard humor is jokes and comedy appealing to children or recalling childhood tastes—bodily functions, silly wordplay, basic insults, and gross-out gags.
The term often carries a dismissive edge, suggesting humor that's juvenile or unsophisticated: The movie relies too heavily on schoolyard humor.
What makes kids laugh on the playground doesn't always translate to adult audiences.
