safety plugs
Socket childproofing inserts
Safety plugs are plastic caps inserted into electrical outlets to prevent children from poking objects into the sockets.
Also called outlet covers or outlet plugs.
The term occasionally extends to other protective stoppers—plugs blocking drain holes in bathtubs or covering unused ports on equipment—but childproofing electrical outlets is the primary meaning.
