road racers
Asphalt speed athletes
Road racers are competitors in races held on public roads or paved circuits rather than tracks built specifically for racing.
The term applies to both cyclists and motorcyclists: Road racers train year-round for the Tour de France.
In motorsports, road racing emphasizes turns and varied terrain over the oval circuits of stock car racing.
