reverse lookup
Find the source
Reverse lookup is finding the source of information when you have the output but not the origin.
Most commonly, it means identifying who owns a phone number: I did a reverse lookup on the number that kept calling.
The term applies to any search that works backward from result to source—finding a word from its definition, an address from coordinates, or a domain from an IP address.
