red corner
Fighter's designated side
In boxing, the red corner is one of two designated corners where a fighter and their team are stationed between rounds, opposite the blue corner.
The challenger traditionally occupies the red corner, the defending champion the blue.
The term extends to any competition with two opposing sides: Which candidate are you backing? I'm in the red corner on this one.
