recessionary
Marked by decline
Recessionary describes economic conditions characterized by or relating to a recession—a period of declining economic activity, typically marked by falling GDP, rising unemployment, and reduced consumer spending.
The term appears most often in financial and policy discussions: recessionary pressures are mounting or the Fed's recessionary concerns.
Something can be recessionary in effect (causing or deepening a downturn) or simply characteristic of recession conditions.
