pressed sandwich
Grilled, weighted sub
A pressed sandwich is made by compressing the filled bread under weight or in a heated press, flattening it and melding the ingredients together.
The Cuban sandwich and panini are classic examples.
Pressing creates a denser texture and crisper exterior than an ordinary sandwich: I ordered a pressed sandwich with ham and gruyère.
