porch pirates
Doorstep delivery snatchers
Porch pirates are thieves who steal packages from doorsteps and porches, typically after delivery services leave them unattended.
The term emerged with the rise of online shopping and home delivery: Security cameras caught the porch pirates grabbing the Amazon box.
The playful pirate imagery belies actual theft.
