A plural wife is a woman married to a man who has other wives simultaneously, as practiced in polygynous communities.
The term appears most often in discussions of fundamentalist Mormon sects, where the practice continues despite being officially abandoned by the mainstream LDS church in 1890: She was his third plural wife.
