pincer grip
Precise fingertip hold
A pincer grip uses the thumb and forefinger to grasp small objects—the way you'd pick up a coin, a pill, or a grain of rice.
The term appears in child development to describe a motor skill milestone, typically emerging around nine months: The baby has developed her pincer grip.
