pilot projects
Small-scale preliminary programs
Pilot projects are small-scale preliminary implementations designed to test feasibility before full commitment.
Organizations run pilot projects to identify problems, gather data, and refine approaches: The city launched a pilot project for bike-sharing in three neighborhoods.
Success may lead to broader rollout; failure provides lessons without catastrophic loss.
Also called pilots.
