pepper-pot

Tabletop seasoning container

A pepper-pot is a container with small holes for sprinkling ground pepper, what Americans usually call a pepper shaker.

In Caribbean and American cooking, pepper pot (two words) is a spicy stew—in the Caribbean made with meat and cassareep, in Philadelphia traditionally with tripe.

Pass me the pepper-pot, would you?
