peace camps
Anti-war tent settlements
Peace camps are protest encampments established near military installations, nuclear facilities, or contested sites, where activists maintain a sustained presence to oppose war, weapons development, or military policy.
The Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp in England, active from 1981 to 2000, became the iconic example.
More broadly, peace camp can describe any organized gathering focused on conflict resolution or nonviolence education: The children attended a peace camp last summer.
