patchy beard
Uneven chin coverage
A patchy beard is facial hair that grows unevenly, with visible gaps or thin spots where hair fails to fill in.
The term usually carries mild disappointment—the beard aspires to fullness but falls short: He's trying to grow a beard but it's coming in patchy.
Some men embrace the look; others shave and wait.
