overtiring

Pushing too hard

Overtiring is exhausting beyond a healthy or productive point.

The word often applies to children who've missed their nap window and become cranky rather than sleepy: An overtired toddler is harder to get to sleep.

Adults overtire themselves through overwork or insufficient rest: She's been overtiring herself with double shifts.
