obstinance

Refusal to budge

Obstinance is stubborn refusal to change one's mind or course of action, even in the face of good reasons to do so.

The word carries a negative connotation—where persistence might be admirable, obstinance suggests unreasonable inflexibility: His obstinance cost him the negotiation.
