nonarchitect
Not a designer
A nonarchitect is someone who is not an architect—used when distinguishing between professionals and laypeople in discussions of building design, urban planning, or architectural criticism: The book explains structural principles in terms a nonarchitect can understand.
The term appears most often when architects address general audiences or when outsiders comment on the field.
