nickers

Soft equine calls

Nickers is the plural of nicker, a soft whinnying sound a horse makes, or the verb for making that sound: The horses nickered when they heard the feed bucket.

In British slang, nickers means pounds sterling: That'll set you back fifty nickers.

Separately, nickers is British informal for knickers (underwear), with the K dropped for casual effect.
