Needle phobia is an intense, irrational fear of needles or injections, often severe enough to cause avoidance of medical care.
The condition can trigger fainting, panic attacks, or extreme anxiety at the sight or anticipation of needles: Her needle phobia made routine blood draws an ordeal.
Also called trypanophobia.
