music patron

Concert hall donor

A music patron is someone who financially supports musicians, musical institutions, or musical endeavors.

Historically, wealthy aristocrats and royalty served as patrons to composers: Bach depended on church and noble patrons throughout his career.

Today the term extends to donors who fund orchestras, opera houses, or individual artists, and more casually to regular concertgoers who support venues by attending performances.
