moka pots
Italian coffee makers
A moka pot is a stovetop coffee maker that brews by passing boiling water pressurized by steam through ground coffee.
The distinctive octagonal aluminum design, invented in Italy in the 1930s, remains common in European kitchens.
The result is strong, concentrated coffee—not true espresso, but closer to it than drip coffee: Every morning she fills the moka pot and sets it on the burner.
