misoriented
Facing the wrong way
Misoriented means positioned or aligned incorrectly, or having lost one's sense of direction or bearings.
A map can be misoriented if held upside down; a person can feel misoriented after spinning or waking in an unfamiliar room.
The word applies both to physical placement and to mental confusion about one's position or circumstances: The transplanted shrub was misoriented toward the shade.
