milk churns
Farm collection containers
Milk churns are large metal containers, traditionally with lids and handles, used to store and transport fresh milk from farms to dairies or markets.
Before refrigerated tanker trucks, churns were the standard vessel for moving milk in bulk.
The term is primarily British; Americans more often say milk cans.
Churns now appear mainly as rustic decorations.
