messy desk
Papers everywhere surface
A messy desk is one cluttered with papers, supplies, and miscellaneous objects in apparent disorder.
The phrase often appears in debates about productivity and creativity—some insist a clean workspace promotes focus, while others claim a messy desk is a sign of genius.
The latter view finds support in photos of Einstein's and Steve Jobs's workspaces.
