medicinal taste
Like cough syrup
A medicinal taste is the bitter, chemical, or herbal flavor associated with medicine—particularly liquid remedies and cough syrups.
The phrase usually signals disapproval: The wine had an unpleasant medicinal taste.
Some people enjoy medicinal notes in liquors like amaros or certain herbal teas, but for most, describing food or drink as medicinal is not a compliment.
