medical case
Doctor's current problem
A medical case is an instance of disease or injury in a particular patient, considered as a unit for diagnosis, treatment, or study.
Doctors discuss cases in rounds, researchers publish case reports, and hospitals track case numbers during outbreaks.
The term also refers to the patient themselves: She was a difficult case.
A case may be open (under active treatment) or closed.
