mail sorter
Postal distribution worker
A mail sorter is a person or machine that organizes postal items by destination—separating letters and packages by zip code, route, or delivery address.
The job was once done entirely by hand; now automated mail sorters use optical scanners and barcodes to process thousands of pieces per hour.
She worked as a mail sorter at the distribution center.
