low-grade

Not quite good

Low-grade describes something of inferior quality or at the lower end of a scale.

A low-grade fever is mild, not dangerous.

Low-grade ore contains little of the valuable mineral.

Low-grade steel lacks the strength of premium alloys.

The term often softens what might otherwise sound harsh: low-grade infection, low-grade tumor.

It suggests something present but not severe.
