logical contradiction
Self-defeating statement
A logical contradiction is a statement or set of statements that cannot all be true at the same time—where one assertion directly negates another.
It can't be both raining and not raining here right now.
In formal logic, contradictions are always false by definition.
The term also describes situations where someone's words conflict with their actions or earlier claims: Calling yourself a pacifist while advocating war is a logical contradiction.
