limbic systems
Brain's emotion center
Limbic systems is the plural of limbic system, a group of interconnected brain structures involved in emotion, memory, and motivation.
The limbic system includes the hippocampus, amygdala, and hypothalamus, among other regions.
It governs instinctive responses—fear, pleasure, aggression—and plays a central role in forming memories: The limbic system processes emotional reactions before the rational brain can intervene.
