lightning chess
Rapid board competition
Lightning chess is a fast-paced form of chess where each player has very little time—typically five minutes or less—for all their moves.
The time pressure forces quick decisions and intuitive play over deep calculation.
Also called blitz chess, though some players distinguish between the two based on exact time controls: We played lightning chess during lunch breaks.
