lesseners
Things that decrease
Lesseners are people or things that make something smaller, weaker, or less intense.
The word functions as the agent noun for lessen, so anything that reduces pain, anxiety, risk, or impact can be called a lessener.
Humor is one of the great lesseners of tension.
The term appears most often when listing factors or interventions that diminish something undesirable.
