learning barriers
Blocks to understanding
Learning barriers are obstacles that interfere with acquiring knowledge or skills.
These can be internal—cognitive differences, anxiety, lack of prior knowledge—or external: inadequate instruction, inaccessible materials, distracting environments.
Students with learning barriers may need accommodations.
The term appears frequently in educational contexts to identify what's blocking progress rather than blaming the learner.
