laundry chutes
Vertical clothes channels
A laundry chute is a vertical shaft built into a house, typically running from an upper floor to the basement or laundry room.
Dirty clothes and linens are dropped in through a small door and slide down to collection below: Just toss your towels down the laundry chute.
Common in older homes, they save trips up and down stairs.
