language practice

Speaking skill development

Language practice is the deliberate exercise of speaking, writing, reading, or listening in a language to build or maintain proficiency.

The term usually implies working on a language that isn't one's native tongue: I need more language practice before my trip to Tokyo.

Practice can be formal (classroom drills, tutoring sessions) or informal (chatting with native speakers, watching foreign films).
