ladies chain
Square dance maneuver
Ladies chain is a square dance figure in which two women exchange places by stepping forward, clasping right hands as they pass, then taking the left hand of the opposite man, who turns them into position.
The move creates a flowing, interlocking pattern as partners trade sides of the set.
Ladies chain across is a common caller's instruction.
