knee patches
Pants leg repairs
Knee patches are reinforcing pieces of fabric sewn onto the knees of pants, either to repair worn areas or to prevent wear in the first place.
Common on children's clothing and work pants, they add durability where fabric takes the most abuse: His jeans had leather knee patches.
The term also applies to decorative patches on riding breeches.
