king tides
Maximum tidal range
King tides are the highest tides of the year, occurring when the sun and moon align during new and full moons closest to Earth.
These extreme high tides reveal what regular flooding may look like as sea levels rise, making them useful for climate change visualization: The king tides flooded the coastal highway again.
The term originated in Australia and has spread to North American usage.
