kicked back

Took it easy

Kicked back describes a state of relaxation or leisure, often after work or exertion: We kicked back with some beers after the game.

The image is of reclining—feet up, chair tilted back.

To kick back can also mean to return money illicitly, as in a kickback scheme: The contractor kicked back ten percent to the inspector.
